Tooth & Tail Review
Tooth and Tail Beaten
The Victors will Feast
A very solid little snacky RTS-Lite, relevantly reminds me a lot of Pikmin in that the control over your squad is very broad. And it's more about swarming and management (In this case, mostly resource) than the finer details of RTS play. While I imagine the Multiplayer is fun in it's own right. The solid campaign missions definitely feel like the meat & potatoes of the package. Offering your usually variety of RTS story missions with varying playstyles and goals.
But god-DAYUM that setting and atmosphere is top notch. There was some love put into this world cause it's dripping with character and intrigue even as every other character in it proceeds to backstab and eat each other. It also does an utterly fantastic job of tying it's themes with it's gameplay. With the flavour of every unit almost more enjoyable than their mechanical aspects while the core themes of food, war, uprisings and general absurdist dystopia that is a cannibalist state match the general scrappy, unorganized gameplay where your food is more important than your units.
I don't think it's fantastic, it's very flawed in it's mission design at times, the difficulty spikes are random and weird, as wonderful as the world is it's not gone into very in-depth and the ending left much to be desired. Still, for a chill, budget, single player RTS-Lite thing. It's only rival in appeal is Pikmin, so take that as you will.
