Pipe Push Paradise Review

A less edible but nonetheless lovely sausage roll.

Ah, Pipe Push Paradise is a delightful little game. It's clearly wearing it's Stephen's Sausage Roll influence on it's sleeve. But that's okay. If you're going to pick an influence, you really couldn't ask for anything better. It's exactly what it says on the tin, and I'll keep this review as short and sweet as the game itself.

It's another Sokoban esque game, except this time you're rolling pipes in three dimensions in order to connect various water mains to each other. It executes on it's ideas fantastically, and aside from a little irritating of a puzzle that plays very differently to all the others. (If you've played the game yourself, you know what one I mean whether you agree or not) I found myself loving every new addition. 10/10, highly recommended to anyone looking for a little block pushing puzzle treat.

 

Ah, that really was a delightful little snack of a game. Finished it in only 2 days too. Well better a game be short but great. I mean I started it less than 24 hours ago, I wonder how long it actually was.

Trails in the Sky FC complete. An Interesting little JRPG, relatively small scale and character focused. With Combat that's a mixture of grid based tactics and FFX's turn order system. Solid combat, a great cast and well paced story beats definitely give it a lot of strengths. Though it's nothing spectacular. The game is not done great favours by time, as I think it's initial english release platform, PSP, would have been the most impressive platform to experience it on. As the state of portability at the time dramatically changes one attitude to several aspects. (Like, for example, the fact I played basically the entire game on fast forward) If you're a fan of Falcom games, I think you'll find a lot to like. It very much feels on par with Ys, being nothing spectacular but still nonetheless very good at what it's setting out to do. Just be careful, cause spoilers galore for the series if you start to google anything.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter Review

  Interesting is better than boring Perhaps a prime example of why remasters don't need to be limited to critical darlings or cult classics. Star Wars Bounty Hunter is a PS2 era action platformer in such a stereotypical mold that I'm going to cover much of the nuts and bolts of the gameplay by repeating the phrase "PS2 era action platformer" while nodding knowingly. If you don't get it, go play Ratchet & Clank. The core selling point of the game is, of course, playing as the titular bounty hunter Jango Fett. Crossing the galaxy seeking your next payday via the seedy underbelly and scum of the land. While the story is no epic nor any kind of true crime drama. I will say it does a good job with it's use of the star wars IP and setting to create a very convincing aesthetic. It says something that I encountered a few genuine mandalorian fans in my streams of the game. I would very easily recommend it to anyone with a fondness for the grander star wars setting....

A dumb post about some skulls

    Pictured: Amnesia: The Dark Descent I had to sit and think about this for a moment. So I'm playing Amnesia cause it's been on my backloggery since it came out and I need a short game to play through to kill that "next game" paralysis. This little goddamn cabinet filled with skulls sent me on an emotional rollercoaster and I need to talk through it for a second. Okay so first, the buildup, you're in a taxidermy room and it's clear the dude has been doing it for less than wholesome reasons involving torture etc etc. You step through into this little study and, thinking you have a breather, begin the routine of looting the drawers for tinderboxes and drugs. Boom, open the cabinet, skulls start tumbling out and the music sting hits. You weren't even prepared for a small monster so your brain starts panicking until you realize it's just some skulls.
